Belichick: Broken wrist ends Bruschi's preseasonESPN.com news services

There was good news and bad news for the New England Patriots on Tuesday. The bad news is that they will be without the heart and soul of their defense for the rest of the preseason. The good news is that they could get him back before New England's first regular season game.

8/8/06
WR Berlin signed
The Patriots bolstered their wide receiving corps today, confirming the signing of veteran wide receiver Eddie Berlin.

8/2/06
Tedy Bruschi is nursing a wrist injury that might be as serious as a fracture, and The Boston Herald reported Tuesday that the Patriots linebacker will miss at least a week of camp while New England determines the severity of the injury.

7/13/06
Dan Stevenson – Signed yesterday, Patriots sixth-round pick Dan Stevenson was taken 205th overall in the 2006 NFL draft. He hails from Illinois, attended Barrington High School, and was rated the top offensive lineman in the Midwest by the Chicago Sun-Times before attending Notre Dame. Aside from sitting out a few games due to minor leg injuries in 2003, Stevenson started in every game the Fighting Irish played over the last three seasons

The New England Patriots signed rookie defensive back Willie Andrews on July 11. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. New England selected Andrews in the seventh round (229th overall) of the 2006 NFL Draft.
Andrews, 22, attended Baylor University, where he played in 46 games with 34 starts over four seasons.

7/06/06

The New England Patriots and football hero Tedy Bruschi rolled out the Gillette Stadium red carpet - and the inflatable football helmet, too - for a 6-year-old boy with a life-threatening heart condition - and made little Andrew Geracoulis’ pigskin wish come true.

Andrew, who suffers from hypoplastic left heart syndrome, a condition where the left side of the heart is underdeveloped, asked the Make-A-Wish Foundation to get him some face time with his hero, Bruschi.

Andrew’s had three heart operations in his short life - at 5 weeks, 6 months and 18 months - and may eventually need a heart transplant. Tedy, who has three young sons of his own, had surgery last year to repair a hole in his heart that was presumed to be the cause of the stroke he suffered in 2005.

No. 54 spent more than an hour with Andrew, his parents Cynthia and Steve, a Marine helicopter pilot, and Andrew’s little sister, Anna, 4. Tedy took the family on a tour of the stadium starting in the room where the three Vince Lombardi trophies live.

6/30/06
